Don't Throw That Away!

Thoughtful Thoughts

Deanna

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what was promised.
                                                                                                                                 Hebrews 10:35-36

To throw away is to let go of a thing without caring where it falls; to scatter

Confidence – freedom in speaking, open, frank, unreserved in speech, conspicuous, free, fearless,
with cheerful courage

Endurance is a steadfast, constant, patience, to not recede or flee. To not be swerved or swayed from deliberate purpose in faith and loyalty under great trial – to bear bravely & calmly

These definitions may or may not match up with what you will find on dictionary.com but come from a good old Strong's Concordance and a Greek dictionary

If you have been alarmed at the events that have been unfolding in our country and all around the world during the last few days or few years, I think we all need to remember that it hasn't caught God off guard or freaked Him out. It has grieved God, I'm sure of that but He certainly isn't running around heaven crying “What'll we do?!? What'll we do!?!”

So what will WE do? I know what we CAN'T do –

  • We can NOT toss aside the truths that we know about who God is. These truths aren't just cute little picture stories from Sunday school, but rather the truths we know from the very Word of God, from our own experience with Him, and from our own witness of His presence in the lives of others.
  • We can NOT flee or be swerved from the deliberate purposes God has in place for us, especially under great trial. I love the definition of this endurance as bearing bravely....and CALMLY.
We MUST, with openness, frankness, conspicuously, without concealment and with bold assurance show CHEERFUL courage and be unreserved in speech. There never really has been, but this certainly isn't the time to withhold the truth. However, this isn't a time for our courage to be seasoned with anger or moroseness. It is to be cheerful, because there IS hope!

Don't let go of the wheel, don't run in fear, don't throw it all away – endure – persevere – the reward is great.

He promised.
