Sunday Surprise Post ~

Whether you are a cheapskate Mom or Gramma
and Proud of it-
Or a Classy Lady Who Simply
Likes to Stretch the Dollars

This is not a high dollar project-nor is it a high energy,

 labor intensive never ending job-

Peeking Through Gramma's Pantry Door ~

The larger sizes I started this project with are all WM reproductions but the two smaller ones to the right side are at least VINTAGE... 1900's saw things like candies sold in these & maybe coffee too. My Kitchen Cannister size jars
are also fabulously VINTAGE finds that took me quite a long time to accumulate for the simple reason that the old treasures tend to be a little pricey or else I tend to be a bit CHEAP.

Everything Has A Story - #2

Floor Model Record Player/ Radio

[turn table inside the top where you see the open door]

It would be so easy to have both the turn table and the radio in working order- [ it is electric not battery]

Shame on me-I really should get that done but honestly I hardly think I would enjoy having it any more...

Friday Favorites - Stringtown Home

Heather is expecting  us:

Stringtown Home

Friday Favorites

What are your plans for Monday (Memorial Day)?

What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do?

What made you smile this week?

What is on your nightstand?

What tune is stuck in your head?

#1.  Most of my family will  be at work or winding down with school activities- No Special plans here.
But I promise you will see our U.S.A.  Flag flying from the front porch. Don'tcha love it!!!!

#2.  I wish I could SING WELL- but I cannot.
Several members of my family have amazing voices but that came from their Dad's DNA. I shall be content with enjoying theirs.

#3.  S.M.I.L.E.......The enthusiastic  ladies at the fitness center on Tuesday & Thursday mornings made me smile.  Having a sense of humor is of the utmost importance...basically being willing to laugh at our selves. We did~Now we get to do it again [laugh at ourselves] Saturday morning for the whole world to see out in the parking lot.

#5.  On my night stand [table beside my bed]  There is a vintage silver teapot with dried blue hydrangeas, a stack of books- 'Crazy Love' by Francis Chan and three Richard Paul Evans Novels and a wonderful  Candle given to me by 'one of the girls'..

#6. A song stuck in my head ....well that changes from time to time..I love a really sweet  praise chorus that goes like this:

"I love you Lord and I lift my voice to worship you....Oh my soul rejoice..Take joy my King in what you hear, may it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear."

When I start singing it ...oh well it just goes on and on.

Introducing A Weekly Series - "Everything Has A Story" at the Gramma's House

Yes,  Everything Has A Story -

At Gramma's House anyway ! Call me a cheapskate or just a good shopper-Take the House Tour~ Every thing has a Story!

This is the Post for sharing some of those stories from our stops along the way in flea markets, antique or junk shops and sometimes just being in the right place at the right time or no money changed hands- many times a treasure was an outright gift from someone who knew how much it would be appreciated.

There are times when we buy with the head [buying smart] but oftentimes it's with the heart [paying too much].  Most of my 'bragging' is about being a cheap...and paying very little for the things we think of as treasures. And yes I usually do remember the actual amount paid.

My Calendar ~ #21

I really like wonderful CALENDARS
My choice calendar each year hangs on the pantry door
and usually has lots of notes, names, dates and special occasions marked on it.
May 18, 2015
- the notation on my calendar
reads 21 months.

My husband thought it total foolishness to spend time visiting a cemetery where
loved ones are buried.  His thinking was perfectly valid-

"I won't be THERE."

Understood.

#1. What is happening around you right now?

You mean RIGHT NOW...as we speak ???

Okay, it's about to be school's out and time to get off work time for many people.
The atmosphere is kinda overcast, dark clouds gathering, rumbling thunder in the distance...
A promise of things [weather] to come?
Who knows..but that's allright.
I have been planted in my big rocker on the front porch HERE

For quite a while-[ a Southern phrase ]

Reading another John Grisham Book-

kinda sorta got lost in the mysterious activities of

the characters in  THE BROKER.

Mama - The Teacher ~

She had no idea she was a teacher - She was!

Primative wooden settee- I still love them

When I was a toddler it was "mama" who allowed me to get on a stool and help make the biscuits.  I know I was in her way. That was my job-wonder how the biscuits looked..mmm.

--- My People Who Are Called By My Name ~

"My People"

That's Us - We Christians

II Chronicles 7:14:

if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Early Mornings & A Second or Last Cuppa Coffee- Grab Yours & Come Along With Ruth Again~

My daily walk in the gardens today
Gives me cause to pause and thank God
For the beauty all around me.
It is the Roses' time to shine
And make my day one of joy
in my God.
